The cat was evacuated from a shelter in Kramatorsk that lacked the resources to provide the specialized care he required. He has been diagnosed with plasmacytic stomatitis, a condition carrying a risk of progressing to plasmacytic sarcoma. Numerous tissue growths in his oral cavity make eating extremely difficult; even consuming liquid food is a struggle, as drinking water and swallowing cause him pain. He was named Ptakh ("Bird") because he was transported in a birdcage.
